My name is Ms. Imani Goodwin; Lead Teacher of the Little Discoveries 2’s classroom. I recently joined the teaching staff at GCDC and I’m excited to enter the classroom to teach and grow with the children.

I was born in Washington, DC and moved to Hyattsville, MD at age 5. I come from a family that loves to help people whether it’s in childcare, elder assistance and even animals. Growing up I assisted several family members with childcare. In February 2022 I welcomed my first child, Onyx; being his mom has taught me so much and I enjoy every minute of teaching and watching him grow!

I graduated from Northwestern High School where I took child development courses and was a teacher’s assistant in the 2-3-year-old class there I achieved my 90 clock hours credential.  Upon graduation my first childcare job was in Washington, DC. I began working with infants and gradually worked my way through all classes: toddlers, two’s and preschool. I currently attend Rasmussen University and will graduate in September 2023 with my Associate’s Degree in early childhood education.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my son, family and friends. I also like to travel. Thus far I have visited Hawaii, Barbados, and Jamaica and look forward to many more trips. I also enjoy bowling and going to amusement parks. One of my favorite things to do is to be with and make memories with my son!

  • 90 clock hours
