Student Teachers and Interns

GCDC provides opportunities to high school and college students who seek to gain on-the-job experience relevant to their field of study in early childhood education.

Student placements must be coordinated through the student’s high school or college. Internships and student teaching positions are all unpaid. GCDC works closely with high school college personnel to ensure appropriate placements of students in our program.

GCDC requires the following paperwork from each intern:

  • A completed health assessment and results of TB skin test on the approved MSDE form.
  • A completed badge request. GCDC located on the secure campus of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. A badge is required to enter the gates each day. On the first day of placement, the student intern must stop at the gate to secure their pre-approved badge. For all subsequent visits, the intern can proceed through the gate after showing their badge to gate security personnel. At this time, GCDC cannot secure badges for Foreign Nationals because the process is extensive and often exceeds the length of a semester’s placement.

Student Teachers may have additional requirements depending on the length of time placed in the program.

Students placed at GCDC find it to be a warm and supportive place. Your success is our success!
