My name is Vennetta Anokam. Originally, I am from Missouri but I have lived in Maryland for over 25 years.  I am a grandmother of three grandchildren and am expecting my 4th grandson this August.  I enjoy spending time with my six-year-old York named Bentley.  I am eager to get back to doing something I love, teaching and nurturing children.

For the past forty years, I have been a dedicated educator in childcare ranging from infants to young adults.  I have a wide range of work experience from being a nanny, to caring for neglected boarder babies as well as twenty-five years as a foster parent.  I have served as a case aid, assisting social workers, as well as working in a transitional home with young women and children.

My teaching philosophy is that “Children are like Kodak film, all they need is a little exposure.”  I understand that children are unique in their own way. I always strive to take this into account and to accommodate each child’s needs.

During my free time, I enjoy staying active.  I love bicycling.  I take on the challenge of riding different cycling paths with a new adventure each time.  I enjoy drawing and painting as well.  I also co-host a podcast tackling the many issues of mental health.   I am excited to being in my journey with my students and my GCDC family.
